About Me

I have been around animals for most of my life; dogs became my passion after I adopted a very reactive rescue dog. I was able to change her view of the world through positive reinforcement training; she is now a happy and confident dog living life to the full. I then found myself rehoming a reactive toy poodle, who, again, I managed to convince that the world was not out to get him. Then my third dog came along, also with reactivity and behavioural issues, again he is doing great. Having these three ‘special’ dogs has taught me not only a great deal about dogs, but also a great deal about me; to that end I decided I would help as many dog owners going through what I had gone through as I can. I feel that going through these difficult times myself gives me a great empathy with the people I work with; and give them hope that it really is possible to manage a dog with such issues.

Several years ago I started to volunteer at a local dog training club; during this time I was asked to train several dogs that were boarding at the kennels attached to the club. Shortly after this I began to volunteer in a rescue centre from where my first rescue dog came; I taught the dogs’ life skills in preparation for their new life in the outside world. I began assisting at Lucky Dog Training in 2009 where I later started to teach my own classes. I now work entirely for myself at my own training ground based in The Green Barn Farm Shop, Benfleet Lake, Essex.

I have learnt a lot by working with so many different breeds of dog with a varied range of problems in many different situations and environments; I enjoy passing on the knowledge I’ve learnt over the years to other owners, hopefully giving them and their dogs a better quality of life.

I continue to attend courses and seminars to update and further my knowledge of Progressive Force Free Training.

Sally has worked with all three of my boys using reward based training. Her knowledge and understanding of dogs is amazing. As an owner I have learnt so much and genuinely understand my dogs' needs so much better. I thoroughly recommend M & M Dog Training.
